Building a Smarter, More Engaged America

We exist to renew the founders' conviction that self-government depends on an informed people. Madison warned that a popular government without popular information is prologue to farce or tragedy; Jefferson believed a nation cannot be both ignorant and free.

That warning was written at a time where information was scarce. Today the problem has changed, there is no shortage of information, we lack a shared foundation that comes through civics education or common experience, to make sense of the information.

We take this warning seriously; our work equips voters with the knowledge to cast an informed ballot, helps students build a lasting love of civics and history, and asks every citizen to treat their own knowledge, and the next generation’s, not as a preference, but as an obligation owed to our nation that depends on it.
